ExtraTxt - SMS-Text Messaging Hardware




Which GSM modem or mobile phones can be used by ExtraTxt to send and receive SMS-Text Messages?

For it to be used by ExtraTxt, the GSM modem or mobile phone MUST conforms to GSM standards that specify the AT-command interface. These include ETSI GSM 07.07, ETSI GSM 07.05, and others.
In particular, the following AT commands should be supported:
ATZ
ATE0
AT+CMEE=1
AT+CMGF=0
AT+CSMS?
AT+CSMS=1
AT+CMGS

Please refer to the corresponding standards for details of these AT-commands.
Please consult your GSM modem or mobile phone vender for the AT-command set it supports.

In general, a GSM/GPRS modem is more preferable than a GSM mobile phone.

For GSM/GPRS modems, we would recommend:
- Digicom Pocket GSM (requires setting the "Port Speed" parameter in ExtraFax Port Control to "9600")
- MultiTech MultiModem GPRS (requires setting the "Port Speed" parameter in ExtraFax Port Control to "115200")

For mobile phones (connected through USB port), we would recommend:
- Windows 2000 / XP: Sony Ericsson K300i / K500i / K700i, Nokia 6230i
- Windows 2003: Nokia 6230i
