Extracomm Inc. is proud to announce the availability of ExtraFax 8.0.1. This new maintenance release contains many innovative new features, essential enhancements and critical fixes as described below.
What's New in ExtraFax 8.0.1
* New features and enhancements - This version contains the following useful new features and enhancements:
- SMS Port for GSM/GPRS modem can now also be used to send and receive MMS.
- MMS delayed download: When an inbound MMS notification is first received, a user can click on a link in the notification in order to manually download the corresponding MMS content.
- MMS delivery acknowledgement: Delivery acknowledgement will send back to the sender once the outbound MMS content has been downloaded by the recipient.
- Inbound Routing based on the person documents in the Domino Directory.
- Inbound Routing configuration for Mail-in Loopback documents to deliver rendered content back to the sender.
- Support the latest Brooktrout 6.4.0 drivers.
- Support for using MS Office 2010 for ExtraFax Native Printing (Attachment Rendering).
- Support for generating searchable PDF with Acrobat X.
- Support for whitelist/blacklist numbers filtering.
- Permitted Numbers and Blocked Out Numbers can be configured by Fax/SMS/MMS individually and also supports wildcard characters.
- Junk Fax Filtering - supports wildcard character when matching the target csid/caller id.
- Incoming and outgoing fax/sms/mms messages can filtered at a view level for ease of reading.
- ExtraFax Console: enhanced UI and functionality.
- ExtraFax Native Printing now supports ignoring certain file attachment types (e.g. zip, rar, 7z, exe, p7m, dll) when encountered and will be ignored.
- Option to further restrict read access for ExtraFax configuration documents.
- Generate fax jobs based on PCL files with embedded codes.
- Port name and description will now be displayed on the title bar of each ExtraFax port console.
* New fixes and updates - ExtraFax 8.0.1 contains several fixes and updates since ExtraFax 8.0:
- Allow looking up of User Preferences documents based on a user's Common Name.
- Allow multiple user names to be specified in a User Preferences document.
- A new option to permit dialing the same fax number concurrently using different ports. Ideal for dialing recipient that has one fax number with many lines.
- A new option for fax modems to turn ECM (Error Correction Mode) on or off.
- Configurable attachment rendering timeout period.
- Support a new reserved field "FaxReportRecipients" in an outgoing job for defining additional person(s) who will receive Delivery Reports.
- Fixed bugs in receiving faxes and displaying Caller ID with Diva fax boards.
- Fixed a compatibility issue with Teltonika GSM modem for sending and receiving SMS.
- Addressed a problem with the Inbound Routing documents when looking up the preferred incoming fax file format.
- Updated some Notes agents in order to avoid potential problem when trying to open Notes database.
- Prevent the archive agent from stopping execution when it is trying to process a Sent/Received Log that contains an empty "StartOn" field.
- Avoid potential "ExtraFax become inactive" messages when performing an OCR on received faxes into a TIFF format when using Microsoft Office Document Imaging.
- Addressed some issues related to the image masking feature.
- Able to display the optional footer message of a received fax for inbound faxes that are automatically printed.
- Check whether Microsoft Excel has been installed before trying to export Sent/Received Logs to an Excel spreadsheet.
- Addressed a load balancing issue when multiple ExtraFax servers share a single ExtraFax PO database.
- Fixed a problem when opening mail.box or name.nsf when using ExtraFax servers in a clustered Domino environment.
- Fixed a problem when rendering fax content with center-aligned fix-width table.
- Fixed a bug which may generate incorrect non-delivery reports back to the sender.
- Prevent ExtraFax from crashing when starting up in cases where an invalid license key has been entered in the setup wizard during installation.
- Suppress returning of out-of-office replies to the ExtraFax Post Office database after routing inbound messages to recipients.
- Resolved compatibility issues when running ExQRedll.dll, exBarcodegen.dll, or ExtraTiff.dll on 64-bit Domino server.
- An option to disable using personal fax number as the calling party number for outbound faxes.
- Web: database title, user name and Logout link are now displayed on the web page.
- Web: fixed the appearance of some user interface elements when displayed in a Firefox browser.
- EFMail Template: fixed problem when specifying the scheduled delivery date and time through the "Fax Options" button.
- EFMail Template: the "Fax Address" button is now capable of looking up the fax domain name from the optionally $ExtraFaxDomain notes.ini variable.
* Discontinued support of fax boards - The following fax boards are no longer supported beginning with ExtraFax 8.0:

1. Follow the installation instructions mentioned in
ExtraFax Installation Guide.
How to upgrade from a previous version of ExtraFax:
Important: Please make sure you have a valid
ExtraFax 8.0.1 license key before upgrading. License keys from any previous version are not compatible.
You can upgrade to this version if you have purchased our
Maintenance Plus Plan or
Standard Maintenance Plan for ExtraFax 8.0.

* SMS/MMS port is under license (port/channel) control.
For ExtraFax Enterprise and Standard licenses, SMS/MMS port will be counted as one fax board channel.
For ExtraFax Lite and UltraLite licenses, SMS/MMS port will be counted as one fax modem port.
Upgrade Procedure:
1. Backup your existing extrafax.nsf and make note of any customizations. In advance of upgrading ExtraFax you should make sure that the design elements in your extrafax.nsf are not marked as "Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify"), otherwise the database design upgrade process may not complete properly.
2. For Brooktrout fax board users, backup the following files from Domino/Notes program directory (Brooktrout 4.9.1 or earlier version drivers), or from C:\Program Files\Brooktrout\Config directory (Brooktrout 5.2 or greater version drivers).

3. For users of Brooktrout TR1034/TruFax/SR140, if you are currently using Brooktrout 4.7.1 - 6.2.4 driver, please download and reinstall with the latest Brooktrout 6.4.0 driver.

4. Run the ExtraFax setup program to start installing the latest version of ExtraFax. You can perform in-place upgrades. There is no need to un-install the previous version of ExtraFax before installing ExtraFax 8.0.1.
5. You will now be prompted to specify the ExtraFax license key during the ExtraFax Server installation process.
6. Following the installation of ExtraFax, when you start ExtraFax it will automatically upgrade the design of extrafax.nsf
(Highly Recommended) if you have chosen to do so as prompted in the setup program.
7. Following the completion of the automatic design upgrade, manually apply any previous database customizations (if any) to the post office database (extrafax.nsf) if necessary.
8. You can manually update the database title from the Basics tab of the Database Properties box to reflect the updated version of ExtraFax.
9. Restart the ExtraFax server and test to confirm that it is running normally.
