ExtraTxt 3.0 is available now!


New Product Announcement - September 23, 2011

Extracomm Inc. is proud to announce ExtraTxt 3.0. This version is released as a virtual machine image and it is available at no charge to all the customers who purchased the ExtraTxt Maintenance plan.

What's New in ExtraTxt 3.0?

This version incorporates the following new features and enhancements:

1. Quick and Easy Setup
- ExtraTxt setup will be run automatically in the console when first time ExtraTxt starts up.
- The setup will guide you through the process. Answering the questions only takes a few minutes.

2. Multi-Account (Requires Enterprise Edition)
- ExtraTxt allows a single instance of ExtraTxt running on a server, serving multiple client organizations (accounts).
- The ExtraTxt instance is logically partitioned so that it appears to each organization that they are accessing a completely separate instance of ExtraTxt.

3. Multiple Users in an Account
- It is possibly that multiple users can be set up in an account.

4. SMS Credits
- Each account has its own credit balance, allowing the user to send text messages when the account has sufficient credits.
- Message rates for different countries can be set up.
- Low credit balance alert can be configured so that email alert will be sent to account administrators when the credit falls below a threshold.

5. Subscription Lists
- Allows your customers to join your mobile marketing list by texting a keyword (e.g. name of your restaurant) to a short code.
- For example, a Pizza shop or salon can start a Mobile VIP club and invite its customers to opt-in to receive special discounts.

6. Account and User APIs
- Account and user APIs allows third-party applications to manage accounts and users.


Other updates:
1. Reset Administrator Password in Console
- System administrator password can be reset in the console in case the password is forgotten.

2. Enhanced Web Page Load Time
- HTML pages are loaded faster in this version.

3. Import Users
- Allow to import user records from a CSV file.

4. Import Contacts
- Allow to import contacts from a CSV file.

5. Export Billing Records
- Billing records can be exported as CSV file for further processing.

Fixes:
1. Email with HTML content
- For Email-to-SMS, if the email contains only the HTML content, the converted plain text includes the HTML tags. Fixed.


For new installation:

1. Download and install ExtraTxt 3.0 VM
- Go to Extracomm download page to download ExtraTxt 3.0 VM.
- Follow the installation instructions mentioned in the ExtraTxt 3.0 Installation Guide.

How to upgrade from a previous version of ExtraTxt:

To upgrade from previous version (version 2.x) of ExtraTxt, you need to perform a backup from your existing ExtraTxt and restore the backup to a ExtraTxt 3.0 VM.

Important: Please make sure you have a valid ExtraTxt 3.0 license key before upgrading. License keys from previous version are not compatible.

Upgrade Procedure:

1. Start your existing ExtraTxt VM.

2. Backup your existing ExtraTxt
- Open your web browser.
- Login as Administrator.
- Go to System Management -> Backup.
- Click the "New" button to create a backup.
- Input the Storage Path like "//10.0.1.123/share" and Storage Path like "extratxt_backup".
- Make sure that you have write permission on the storage path so that the backup process can create backup on it.
- If the storage path requires login, select "Require Login" and input the user ID and password.
- Click "Save" to save the backup record.
- Wait until the status of the backup is "Success".

3. Stop your existing ExtraTxt VM.

4. Download and install ExtraTxt 3.0 VM
- Go to Extracomm download page to download ExtraTxt 3.0 VM.
- Follow the installation instructions mentioned in the ExtraTxt 3.0 Installation Guide.

5. Restore the backup to ExtraTxt 3.0 VM
- Open your web browser.
- Login as Administrator.
- Go to System Management -> Restore.
- Click the "Edit" button.
- Input the Storage Path like "//10.0.1.123/share" and Storage Path like "extratxt_backup/extratxt_backup_full20110919_2323".
- Make sure that you have read permission on the storage path so that the restore process can read the backup file.
- If the storage path requires login, select "Require Login" and input the user ID and password.
- Click "Save" to start the restore process.
- Wait until the restore process is done.

6. Upload the ExtraTxt 3.0 license key
- Go to System Management -> Licensing.
- Click the "Edit" button.
- Upload your ExtraTxt 3.0 license key.

7. Test the ExtraTxt 3.0 VM to confirm that it is running normally.
