New Product Announcement - October 4, 2007
Extracomm Inc. is proud to announce ExtraFax 7.0.1 in October 2007. It is a new maintenance release of ExtraFax 7.0, which contains many innovative new features, essential enhancements and critical fixes as described below.
What's New in ExtraFax 7.0.1
* New features and enhancements - This version contains the following useful new features and enhancements:
- Support Domino/Notes 8.
- Support Windows Vista.
- Enhanced auto-detection of fax/SMS/MMS devices.
- Save received faxes in the newly supported PDF/A-1b or Searchable PDF/A-1b format.
- Prompt for ExtraFax database design upgrade after reinstallation.
- A new notes.ini parameter to force ExtraFax messages to be displayed on Domino server console in English.
- Support Nokia S60 Third Edition for MMS.
- Support Blogsphere 3.x.
* New fixes and updates - This version contains several fixes and updates since ExtraFax 7.0:
- Addressed a few reported issues regarding sending and receiving SMS.
- Included mmspc.exe into the setup program, which is missed in the previous version.
- Fixed potential crash when trying to type a signature from ExtraMail.
- Resolved the issue of no default values when editing a single User Preferences document.
For new installation, please:
1. Follow the installation instructions mentioned in ExtraFax Installation Guide.
To upgrade from previous version of ExtraFax, please:
Important: Please make sure you have a valid ExtraFax 7.0.1 license key before upgrading. License keys of any previous versions are not compatible.
You can upgrade to this version if you have purchased our Maintenance Plus Plan or Maintenance Plan for ExtraFax 7.0.
* SMS/MMS port is under license (port/channel) control.
For ExtraFax Enterprise and Standard licenses, SMS/MMS port will be counted as one fax board channel.
For ExtraFax Lite and UltraLite licenses, SMS/MMS port will be counted as one fax modem port.
Upgrade Procedure:
1. Backup your existing extrafax.nsf.
2. For Brooktrout board user, backup the following files from Domino/Notes program directory:
- bchanmap.cfg
- btcall.cfg
- btna.cfg
- callctrl.cfg
- digital.cfg
- isdn.cfg
(Skip a particular file if it does not exist)
3. Uninstall the existing old version of ExtraFax.
4. Reboot computer.
5. Install the latest version of ExtraFax.
6. Reboot computer.
7. For Brooktrout board user, if you are currently using either Brooktrout 4.7.1 or 4.9.1 driver, please download and reinstall with the latest Brooktrout 5.3.0.3 driver.

8. Sign the new ExtraFax PO template (extrafax.ntf) with a Notes ID with "Run unrestricted methods and operations" right.
9. Replace the database design of your extrafax.nsf with the new ExtraFax PO template (Before replacing the database design, you may have to make sure that the design elements in your extrafax.nsf are not marked as "Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify").
10. Reapply any customized database design onto your extrafax.nsf if necessary.
Remarks:
*** ExtraFax 7.0.1 supports Domino/Notes 6 and above. If you are still using Domino/Notes R5, please consider to use ExtraFax 6.5.2 instead.
